Lehigh is a premier residential research university, ranked in the top tier of national research universities. We are a coeducational, nondenominational, private university that offers a distinct academic environment for undergraduate and graduate students from across the globe.

Our university offers majors and programs across five colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, College of Education, College of Health, and the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Approximately 7,000 students call Lehigh home each year. Located in Pennsylvania’s scenic Lehigh Valley, the campus is in close proximity to both New York City and Philadelphia. Lehigh is comprised of 2,358 acres, making it one of the largest private universities in the country.

Lehigh University Class of 2023 Masters-Doctoral Graduate

During Commencement ceremonies in May 2023, Lehigh University conferred 1,940 Bachelor's degrees, 507 Master's degrees and 118 Doctoral degrees. Of the more than 2,500 graduates, degree recipients came from 41 states and 54 countries outside of the United States.

Graduating Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

This is the Athletic Department's most prestigious award. Established in 1994, the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award goes to the individual who epitomizes the ideals of a true Lehigh scholar-athlete: self-awareness and the ability to achieve balance academically, athletically, socially and emotionally, consistent evidence of integrity, and the discipline to adhere to keystone behaviors, distinctive levels of competitiveness, toughness, and a team first mentality, resulting in exemplary scholarship, athletic achievement and a commitment to serving others.

Distinguished Achievement Awards

Established in 1994, the Distinguished Achievement Award goes to graduating student-athletes who have displayed the ideals of a scholar-athlete: high performance in the four cornerstones of the student-athlete experience and high levels of competitiveness and toughness resulting in commendable scholarship and significant athletic achievement at the league level and beyond.

John A. Cable Leadership Award

This award was established and first awarded in 1927, and was funded by an endowment gift from the Allentown John Hancock Agency of Joe DiMento, Tom Nikles '82, and Jim Serratelli '86, and is named in honor of 1945 graduate John Cable. This is the top department leadership award for a graduating male student-athlete and recognizes the most effective team leadership characterized by modeling team standards and performing consistently, holding others accountable, and serving as an effective liaison between team and coaches. Qualifications also include strong self-awareness, integrity, competitiveness, toughness, and a positive team-first mentality, all of which contribute to high performance academically, athletically, socially and emotionally.

This award was established in 1980, in honor of counselor Mary O. Hurley, and is the top department leadership award for a graduating female student-athlete. This award was established in 1961 in honor of Lehigh Hall of Fame member, All-American quarterback, and three-sport athlete, J. Daniel Nolan '58. John Steckbeck Award

This award was established in 1976 in honor of the former Director of Intramural and Recreational Sports at Lehigh. Phillip J. Sclar Award

This award was established in 2002 and is named in honor of the late Phil Sclar who was a manager for several Lehigh teams for over 30 years. The award is given to an underclass work study student (team manager) that, in the eyes of the Athletics Department Awards Committee, exemplifies a team-first mentality, servant leadership, and the spirit and character of Philip J. Sclar, who embodied the qualities of loyalty and a willingness to always give the best effort possible behind the scenes in helping the team function.
